Breakaway Safety & Freeze Protection In the event of a vehicle impact, the breakaway flange ensures only the upper section separates, maintaining the seal with no water leakage and allowing rapid repair without interrupting the water supply. The dry barrel design keeps the hydrant barrel water-free when not in use, eliminating freeze damage in cold climates.

Advanced Engineering for Long-Term Performance A sealed oil reservoir with O-ring seals automatically lubricates stem threads and bearing surfaces every time the hydrant is operated — eliminating manual lubrication requirements and ensuring smooth, low-torque operation throughout the hydrant's service life. The bronze seat ring, bronze drain screw plug, and EPDM-encapsulated ductile iron wedge combine corrosion resistance with reliable long-term sealing. A gland nut prevents unauthorised removal of the operating nut, and the sealed bonnet prevents water ingress that could cause freezing.

Easy Maintenance Supplied complete with repair kits covering main valve components, safety flange, bonnet, and extension parts. All repairs can be carried out above ground without excavation or shutting off the water supply. Barrel length extension kits are available on request to suit varying bury depths.

DRY BARREL PILLAR HYDRANT

The Fireguard FGDH series are LPCB-approved dry barrel pillar hydrants designed and manufactured to BS EN 14384:2005, BS 1074-1, BS 1074-2, and BS 1074-6 standards. Built for non-potable firefighting water systems, they combine a robust dry barrel design with innovative safety features to deliver long-term, freeze-resistant performance in demanding outdoor environments.

Breakaway Safety Design In the event of a vehicle impact, only the upper flange section breaks — the seal is maintained and there is no leakage of water. This critical safety feature prevents a collision from causing a flood or loss of firefighting water supply, and allows the hydrant to remain functional or be quickly restored to service.

Freeze & Corrosion Protection The dry barrel design keeps the upper section water-free when not in use. An automatic drain system evacuates retained water (≤150ml) from the upper barrel within 10 minutes of the main valve closing — preventing freeze damage in cold climates. Above-ground sections are sand-blasted and finished with red electrostatic powder coating (≥300µm), while below-ground sections receive a double coat of black bituminous paint for corrosion protection.

Flexible Configuration Available in DN100 and DN150 inlet sizes with flanged connections to customer requirements. Stem options include carbon steel or stainless steel (STS304/316/316L) for enhanced corrosion resistance. Supplied in standard configuration, with straight-through landing valve, or with BS366 couplings.
