HFC-227ea Fire Suppression System

The Fireguard iQ Series Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing System uses HFC-227ea, a colorless, non-toxic gas ideal for protecting high-value assets in occupied spaces. It leaves no residue, requires no clean-up, is electrically non-conductive, and is well suited to areas where storage space is limited.

Each system consists of storage components (cylinder assembly and bracket), distribution components (discharge nozzles and piping), and trim components (fittings, pressure gauge, valve actuators) needed to introduce the agent into the protected hazard. Multi-cylinder arrangements are supported via slave components (pneumatic actuators, bleed valve, pilot hose), with up to 7 cylinders (1 primary + 6 slave) in a single arrangement. A control panel monitors actuators, detectors, cylinder pressure, and manual release/abort stations.

Key Features:

  • Non-toxic, non-conductive, residue-free clean agent — safe for occupied spaces
  • Discharges within 10 seconds, minimizing formation of Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) byproduct
  • Compatible with common metals, rubber, plastic, and electronics
  • Anti-recoil safety device fitted as standard on the cylinder valve
  • Supports single or multi-cylinder (slave) arrangements via manifold configuration
  • Available with 360° radial (8-port) or 180° sidewall (8-port) discharge nozzles

Key Specs:

  • Cylinder: Lightwalled, welded seam, manufactured to TPED requirements, vertical mount only
  • Nominal Working Pressure: 25 or 42 Bar
  • Nominal Cylinder Volumes: 40L to 170L
  • Discharge Outlet: 1.25 in (33mm) or 2 in (49mm) male thread
  • Pilot Actuation Port: ¼ in (8mm) FNPT
  • Max Nozzle Coverage Height: 5500mm per tier
  • Discharge Pressure Switch: SPDT, 10A resistive @ 30VDC

Chemical Properties:

  • Chemical Formula: CF₃CHFCF₃ (Heptafluoropropane)
  • Extinguishing Mechanism: Heat absorption, with secondary chemical action from thermal decomposition
  • EPA SNAP-listed as acceptable for occupied spaces

Note: HFC-227ea discharge may briefly reduce visibility and can cause frostbite on skin contact with liquid or escaping vapor. The MSDS should be read prior to handling, and NFPA 2001 human exposure guidelines should be followed.
